About VALEEHILL ✨

The name VALEEHILL is derived from shortening my full name and has been in use since 1980. My first online use of the name occurred in the late 1990s; its first use as a domain name came in the early 2000s, when I created my first website. This specific iteration was established in 2009.

VALEEHILL is purely a passion project for me. There are no affiliate links or ads. The topics represent my interest in reading, music, movies, genealogy, travel/camping/sightseeing, photography, companion animals, Arabian horses, minimalism, alternative living, and plant-based eating.

It's Personal 😊

Reason #1: After decades of searching for even the tiniest bit of information on my NOT-famous ancestors, endless unanswered questions of relatives, and relying almost entirely on documents, I thought, "Why not make it possible for others to learn about regular ol’ me?”

Reason #2: I’m curious about people. Particularly, friends and family. I want to know their likes and dislikes, education, occupations, and hobbies, and what their day-to-day lives are like. I wish they ALL shared more. Oh, to have a single source for all of that stuff I wanna know about them!

Reason #3: My sisters and I were raised to feel like we were nothing special. Years of being criticized, belittled, and disregarded. After all of that, miraculously, I’ve discovered that I actually like myself, feel that I am quite good at some things, and wanted a place to share some of that knowledge. And, darn it, I have things I want to say!

Reason #4: I’m not good at journaling, but I feel motivated to write here. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I’m able to express myself to my satisfaction, while hopefully helping others. My last full year of school was 8th grade. I want to be able to write much better than my limited formal education would suggest is possible.

Reason #5: I’d like to be contacted by more cousins and people from my past who find me because of the information I’ve shared. Continuing to meet other like-minded individuals who enjoy occasional conversations about shared interests will always be pretty cool, too!

Reason #6: Being an introvert who lives alone, I feel this is the most comfortable way for me to share what I want, how I want, and when I want. Unlike vlogging (video blogging), which is an unimaginable horror to me! 😱
