Hideaway had the author’s signature style of storytelling throughout, i.e. a loving close knit family dynamic, fascinating insights into character interests and careers, well described settings, clearly defined lines between the good and evil characters, suspenseful situations, and snappy repartee between the hero and heroine. The book definitely had all those positive examples. It just had them in disappointingly minuscule amounts. Cait and Dillon’s relationship was that of comfortable and caring friends and not of sexy romantic partners. Sadly, I found Hideaway to be a rather indifferent read.
